Srinagar is a beautiful city in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, India. Srinagar is situated at an altitude of 579 mts above sea level on the banks of the Alaknanda river.
The Srinagar city was founded by king Ajaypal of Tehri Garhwal in the 14th century and it was the capital of Garhwal till 1803. It was then an important centre of garhwal art and architecture.

Kamleshwar Temple in Srinagar is an ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed that lord Rama worshipped Lord Shiva here and offered one of his eyes to Lord Shiva when he felt one short of a thousand lotus flowers. The temple is known to have divine powers. On Vaikunth Chaturdashi childless couples come here and pray to Lord Shiva with lighted lamps for the whole night.
Shankar Math is 3 kms from Srinagar. This ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is said to have divine powers. The temple is also well known for its its`architectural beauty.
Devalgarh is 19 kms from Srinagar. The main attractions here are the Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Gauri Devi Temple and the Rajrajeshwari Temple. The temples and ruins of the place are of architectural importance. The temple is surrounded by beautiful scenic surroundings and the view of the himalayan peaks is simply beautiful from here.
Dhar devi Temple The temple is dedicated to goddess Kali and is situated atop a 20 mts high rock. Thousands of pilgrims on the way to Badrinath visit this holy temple. There is also an ancient cave nearby the temple.
Srinagar in Pauri Garhwal Uttarakhand is a part of Garhwal tourism, and the local languages spoken are Hindi and Gadhwali.
The best time to visit Srinagar would be from October - February. Cotton in summer and heavy woolens in winter is advisable.
