Binsar is situated at an altitude of 2310 mts above sea level in the heart of Kumaon mountains of the Himalayas Almora, Uttarakhand. This well known resort and wildlife sanctuary spans a total area of 50kms and is surrounded by majestic snow covered peaks and covered with lush green forests of long oak, rhododendron and pine trees.
Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary is home to wild animals such as the leopards, black bears and wild boars. It is very rich in avifauna with about 200 different varieties of birds within its vicinity.
Binsar also offers a fantastic 360° view of the himalayan peaks from Yamunotri in the Garhwal to the Nampa Peaks of Nepal which stretch to a total of some 300kms. Some of the peaks that can be seen are the Nanda Devi, Trishul, Adi, Nanda Kot, Panchchuoli, Kedarnath, Kamet, Chaukhamba and the Nampa Peaks.
The lush green forests, majestic mountains and beautiful exotic surrounding make it undoubtedly a nature's paradise and an excellent place for a peaceful holiday.
Binsar Uttarakhand is a part of Kumaon tourism, and the local languages spoken are Kumaoni, Gadhwali and Hindi. The best time to visit Binsar would be from Feb - April and September - October.
Light woolens in summer and heavy woolens winter are advisable. The summer season extends from April to June. The winter season is from October to February.
