Valley of Flowers Trek
Valley of Flowers National Park is an Indian national park in Chamoli District of Uttarakhand India. It is famous for its meadows of alpine flowers and natural beauty.
This valley of flowers is spread over an area of 85 sq km and is situated at a height of 11,000 feet to 14,000 feet in the Western Himalayas.
The Valley and is surrounded on either side by beautiful snow capped peaks. The beauty of the valley is enhanced by the Pashupati river flowing in the region. A large portion of this valley is on its right bank and is every nature lover dream come true.
In the year 1982 an area of 8,950 hectares of the valley was declared a National Park and later in July 2005 the Valley of flowers was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The Valley of flower has over 300 different species of wild flowers like the Himalayan blue poppy, daisies, dainthus, calendula and white and blue anemones. The color of the valley changes almost everyday taking its color from hundreds of new different flowers that bloom everyday.
The Valley of flower is also home to many wild animals such as the snow leopard, Himalayan black and brown bears. Different varieties of deer such as barking deer and the musk deer can also be seen here in the sanctuary.
It is also rich in avifauna and many birds such as the Himalayan Golden Eagle, Himalayan Snowcock, Himalayan Monal, Snow Pigeon, Sparrow Hawk can be seen here.

It is one of the most beautiful medium altitude valleys in the world. The snow melts from May and the entire valley then blooms with different types and color of flowers.
The month of July and August during the monsoon is the right time to trek and the sight of the blooming flowers make it truly a heaven on earth.
Valley of flowers in Uttarakhand is a part of Garhwal tourism, and the local languages spoken are Gadhwali and Hindi. The best time to visit Valley of flowers would be from July and August.
Valley of flowers Trek is a group trekking tour. The Trek is medium altitude trek reaching an elevation of 4500m above sea level. Ghangaria are the base camp for the trek.
The Valley of flowers trek is a moderate grade trek and a total distance of approx 40 km is covered during the trek.
Valley of flowers - Hemkund Sahib Trek Itinerary - 5 Nights - 6 Days
Day 01: Rishikesh - Joshimath ( 280kms / 8hr )
Early morning, drive to Joshimath via Devprayag and Rudraprayag. Arrival at Joshimath by evening, check into the hotel. Visit the winter home of Lord Badrinath.
Dinner & overnight stay.
Day 02: Joshimath - Govind Ghat (22kms drive) - Ghangaria (16kms/6hr trek)
Drive 22 kms to Govindghat. It is the start point of trek to Ghangaria (3000 mts). The trek is a gradual ascent alongside the river Alaknanda. Reach Ghangharia/Govinddham a flat meadow village surrounded by conifer and pine covered mountains. Ghangharia is a base for Hemkund Shaib and Valley of Flowers trek.
Rest in tourist Lodge, tents and hotels. Dinner & overnight stay.
Day 03: Hemkund-Ghanghria (6 kms one side/8 hrs)
Today we trek to Hemkund Sahib (4329 m) from Ghangaria. It is a rigorous and steep trek...On reaching Hemkund Sahib we have our bath in the lake. Pooja and Darshan. Later we trek back to Ghangaria. Trekking back is relatively easier.
Dinner & overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 04: Ghangaria - Valley Of Flowers - Ghangria (5 kms one side/4-5 hrs)
Today we trek to Valley Of Flowers (3858 m) and approx 5kms from Ghangaria. The trek to the valley is a gradual descent and it is an easy trek today. The trekking time in the valley is between ( 7.00 am to 5.00pm ) only. After enjoying the beauty of valley we trek back to Ghangaria.
Dinner & overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 05: Ghangaria - Govindghat (16kms trek down) - Srinagar ( 155kms / 5hr )
After 16 kms trek from Ghangaria to Govind Ghat, we drive to Srinagar from Govind Ghat.
Check in Hotel. Overnight stay.
Day 06: Rudraprayag - Rishikesh - (140kms/5hr)
Early morning, we drive to Rishikesh. Rishikesh sightseeing. Lakshman Jhula. Ram Jhula. tour end.
